There is an interesting story to the Cambodia casinos that lie just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, where gambling hall gaming is banned. Eight casinos are based in a generally small area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent spot, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing income gained from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few limitations constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; still, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and despite the fact visas are allegedly needed to cross, there are methods around this, as is accurate of many borders.
The first Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored bateau casino, features 150 slot machines and sixty table games. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of 150 one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred one armed bandits and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and sixty six of the normal table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive resort and hotel compound that features numerous conveniences aside from the casino, which offers 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight gaming tables.
